HOW TO CHOOSE AN AFFILIATE PRODUCT ?

Choosing an affiliate product after having choosen your niche is what you must do very carefully. Various people do it in various ways because we all have our own views. If you are new to affiliate marketing then you must know what to look for in an affiliate product before choosing one - very important. The process I follow is - I go to the sales page of the product, go through it and then ask myself the following questions :-

1. Did The Sales Page Impress Me? - This is very important because if the sales page ofthe affiliate product does not impress you then how will you be assured that it will impress the prospect you will send to its site thus less sales and less income for you.

2. Will I Buy The Affiliate Programme? - Put yourself in place of the prospect that you will be sending to the affiliate programme site and then judge if you will buy such a programme? - If Yes - then you must promote it.

3. What Is The Hit Per Sale Ratio? - This is the number of hits on an average to a link it takes to result in a sale based on the affiliate statistics. You will get this data either on the product site or on the affiliate network site. This is a very important factor while choosing an affiliate product because this gives you an idea of the number of visitors on an average you would have to send to the merchant site to get commission on a sale made. most of the merchants gives commission on a per sale made basis.

4. Are All Affiliate Stats Available Easily? - This is necessary so that you can check your own stats of how many impressions, hits and sales have been generated from your site.

5. Does The Affiliate Programme Also Pay For The Visitors Sent From Your Site Other Than The Commissions On Sales? - The fact is that you will get very less programmes paying for the hits and impressions from your site or link but there are a few who does. This can offer a good additional income.

6. Does The Programme Have A Referral Plan? - Without a referral plan you will be paid only for the sales you make not for the sales made by an affiliate you have sponsored. There are many such programmes offering a referral plan. This can also add up to your earnings.

7. Does It Cost Anything To Join? - The best affiliate programmes are free to join so why pay for something which is free. Never join any affiliate programme which asks you to pay joining fees.

8. When Are The Payments Released? - Normally this depends on the affiliate network from where you take the product but if you join any individual affiliate site then take note when they issue their checks. Many set a minimum limit to issue the checks. So do check the payment norms before joining.

9. How And How Long Do They Track The Referrals? - This is important because a person that you may have referred to the merchant site may not buy the product on first visit but may buy it later. So checking this point would insure that you get your commission whenever the sale is made. Promote an affiliate product with longer tracking duration. Also make sure that their tracking system is reliable.

10. What Is The Percentage Of Commission Paid? - Normally affiliates are paid commissions from 10% to 75% of the sales value depending upon the product or service you are promoting. Commissions on hits and impressions are in the range of 0.01% to 0.05%.

These are the points I verify before joining. I take my products from Clickbank which deals with only digital products giving out commissions from 25% to 75%. I personally give much value to the gravity criteria of a product because a product with higher gravity means it has a better hit to sales ratio, it is a popular product, it is a better product and normally a product with high gravity pays a high commission too.
