HOW TO START A BLOG

How to start a blog? Starting a blog is rather easy then it may seem, in fact a blog can be launched in just the same time that you take to have your breakfast – yes you have read it right – a blog can be created and launched in just five minutes. But there are certain things you must know before you create or start a blog – to make your blogging journey smooth or to have a good blog. In this post I will highlight the steps or rather the preparations that you must take to start a blog. For those who want to make money form their blogs (I hope that is the purpose for most of you) it becomes more important for them to know these steps because starting a blog is easy (in fact cakewalk) but creating a good and interesting blog needs a good amount of planning before you start specially if you want to start earning from it.
STEPS TO START A BLOG – I give below the steps I think one must go through to start a great blog. Some of the steps would require you to go back to some of my previous posts for a better understanding of the steps.
1.    Draw a picture in your mind – You must have already visited many blogs and must have liked them in one way or the other before deciding to create a blog for yourself. You must have already made a picture about having your own blog, its look and feel in your mind – as I think this is an important step towards starting anything – we all think and dream (may be!) about a thing before starting to build it because mental planning and preparation is the starting point to anything made by humans. The picture you have in your mind will guide you greatly.
2.    Know what a blog is? –  I have already discussed this topic – What Is A Blog? – in one of my previous posts in details, so please go through it. A proper understanding of “what a blog is?” will make you understand what all you can do with a blog.
3.    Choose what to blog about? – This is one of the most important step to start a unique blog. There  are many simple things to consider before you choose a topic or subject for your blog for example your interest and depth in the topic, your comfort level, what are the topics people search for, what is the search volume of the topic you are interested in, what is the competition level for the topic that you choose and etc. I have discussed about all the points that are to be taken care of in my post – How To Choose The Right Topic For Your Blog? – please read the post as this step is the one which can make or break your blog.
4.    Choose a Domain Name for your blog – Domain name is your blog’s address or URL(Uniform Resource Locator) so you got to choose it with care. Go to my post – How To Choose A Domain Name? – to know the details of the things that you got to consider while choosing a domain name for your blog.
5.    Choose the right blogging platform – There are many blogging platforms available some for free, some for a small fee and some with a combination of both – all these options have both pros and cons and you would have to choose one according to your need and pocket. 6.    Choose a Title for your blog -  Your Blog Title is the identity or the name of your blog – it tells people what your blog is about at a glance so again some caution is advised. 7.    All is set – Now you have everything ready and its time to start writing your first post – you may put a “Welcome message” in your first post or may start with an unique post on your chosen niche to start showing your expertise right away.
